What is Numeraire?
Numeraire (NMR) is the native ERC-20 token of Numerai, a decentralized hedge fund that uses data science to guide investment strategies. NMR is staked by data scientists in Numerai’s tournaments and used to reward top-performing models, creating a strong incentive loop between data science and crypto finance. The token fuels model submissions and participation across the Numerai ecosystem.
Why does Numeraire have inflation?
Numeraire has inflation because new NMR tokens are minted as rewards for data scientists who contribute models, ensuring ongoing incentives and participation in Numerai’s tournaments. This inflationary design aims to sustain the ecosystem by continuously rewarding contributors.
How is Numeraire inflation calculated?
Numeraire inflation is calculated by comparing the circulating supply from one year ago to today’s supply. The percentage increase in supply over that period is the annual inflation rate. Learn more in our guide: What is cryptocurrency inflation?.
