What is Eigenlayer?
EigenLayer is a protocol that enables restaking of Ethereum stake to extend security to multiple Layer-1s and Layer-2s. By reusing staked ETH to secure additional networks, it aims to boost capital efficiency and cross-chain security, helping new protocols boot faster with strong security guarantees.
Why does Eigenlayer have inflation?
EigenLayer does not mint its own token, so there is no EigenLayer-specific inflation. Any inflationary effects come from Ethereum’s staking rewards for validators, i.e., the base-layer issuance, rather than a separate EigenLayer-issued supply.
How is Eigenlayer inflation calculated?
Eigenlayer inflation is calculated by comparing the circulating supply from one year ago to today’s supply. The percentage increase in supply over that period is the annual inflation rate. Learn more in our guide: What is cryptocurrency inflation?.
How is Eigenlayer emission calculated?
Eigenlayer emission refers to how new coins enter circulation, usually through mining or staking rewards. The emission rate depends on the project’s monetary policy and block reward schedule. Learn more in our guide: What is cryptocurrency emission?.
