What is Audius?
Audius is a decentralized, blockchain-based music streaming protocol that connects artists directly with listeners, bypassing traditional intermediaries. The AUDIO token powers staking, governance, and creator rewards, enabling artists to monetize their work and fans to support them in a censorship-resistant, community-driven platform. With scalable infrastructure and community governance, Audius aims to accelerate the global distribution of music.
Why does Audius have inflation?
Audius has inflation because new AUDIO tokens are minted as rewards for network participants, including stakers, node operators, and developers, to incentivize participation and network security. This issuance supports ongoing ecosystem growth and aligns incentives across creators, listeners, and infrastructure providers.
How is Audius inflation calculated?
Audius inflation is calculated by comparing the circulating supply from one year ago to today’s supply. The percentage increase in supply over that period is the annual inflation rate. Learn more in our guide: What is cryptocurrency inflation?.
